Crush Confessions of Writers & Illustrators

Truth or Dare?
What if I dare you to tell us the truth?
What if I quadruple dog dare you?

Writers: I dare you to share the name of an artist you would love to have illustrate one of your books.

Illustrators: I dare you to share the name of a writer whose words you would love to illustrate.

Don't be shy. You never know. Someone out there might see your crush and hook you up. What have we got to lose?

  1. I would love for Guy Parker-Rees to illustrate one of my picture books. His jungle animals in GIRAFFE'S CAN'T DANCE and his dinosaurs in DINOSAURUMPUS are so full of life and fun. His work makes me smile. :)

  2. Hmmm.. I would love for Karen Lee to illustrate one of my books! I love her work. When I pick up Highlights, I always know when it's her work. I don't even have to look at the name. Her style is distinctive, fun, delicious and warm...all at the same time!

  3. I''d pick K.Y. Craft http://www.kycraft.com/ or Paul O. Zelinsky http://www.paulozelinsky.com/rapunzel.html/ to illustrate my YA novel, THE DARKENING. Hey, dreams don't cost anything, right?

  4. If I wrote picture books (which I don;t) I would want Steven Kellogg or Jan Brett.) thanks for reminding us in this post and your previous one, the importance of dreams.

  5. I love the question. :-) I hope to be helping my aunt find an illustrator soon. As for me I write but I don’t write picture books. If I did… I love both simple fun art and detail. For a middle grade diary type book I would want @LittleAnimation (JC Little) and for a detailed picture book @RaymondThornton (Raymond Thornton). Both are great at their own style.
